Classic Tomato Pizza Sauce

Makes about 4 cups

  • 3½ cups canned plum tomatoes (4 cups if using fresh tomatoes)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 6 basil leaves

In the bowl of a food processor, combine all ingredients and purée until smooth.
