Hot Coffee Cocoa Cocktail


Makes 2 drinks

This hot chocolate celebrates the season’s very best flavors. Simply leave out the coffee liqueur for a kid-friendly version.


  • 2 cups milk

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1½ tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

  • Pinch of nutmeg

  • 1 ounce coffee liqueur, such as Kahlúa

  • Mini marshmallows, for serving

  • Salted caramel sauce, for serving

  • Chocolate syrup, for serving


In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon and nutmeg. Warm until heated through, about 4 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in Kahlúa. Serve hot, topped with marshmallows, salted caramel sauce, and chocolate syrup.
